Sanitary SMS Union

VTY Sanitary SMS Union is a sanitary fitting used to connect pipelines and equipment. They are designed in accordance with Swedish Manufacturing Standard - SMS 1145 standard. Each SMS Union is made up of a round slotted nut, weld liner, weld male and a seal. The SMS unions are forged in stainless steel 1.4301 and 1.4404 and are machined by CNC.

How to Clean and Maintain？

When cleaning Sanitary SMS Unions, please use mild detergents, especially neutral detergents, and soft cloths to wipe them. Do not use hard brushes or corrosive chemicals to avoid damage to their coatings. Please dismantle these unions regularly before use to ensure there are no residues. Unlike other types of ferrules, sanitary unions are designed for quick disassembly, reducing downtime. For instance, normal welded ferrules are hard to clean, and we should replace the entire pipe sections when cleaning is necessary. In contrast, sanitary unions require local treatment. This will reduce maintenance costs. It should be noted that frequent disassembly will accelerate the wear of seals, so we have to make a maintenance plan according to frequency of use.  

What is the Applicable Range of Temperature and Pressure?

In general, Sanitary SMS Unions are suitable for temperatures ranging from -20℃ to 150℃. Generally the working pressure is between 0-1.6 MPa, and it can vary according to changes in specifications. At high temperatures, PVC ferrules may become deformed or release harmful substances. Compared with PVC material, stainless steel unions have better resistance to high temperatures.
